What Early Access Means for an STL Drop

· Duck Heroes

What early access should mean for a new collectible duck file, for collectors and for people who sell prints.

Early access is a clock. A new file reaches a smaller group before it is public. It is useful only if everyone knows what “early” includes.

Duck Heroes does not have a public catalog or a membership yet, so there is no early-access drop live on this site. This is how to read one when a designer offers it.

What you should expect to receive

A file you can slice, a short note on suggested size, and the license that applies to that file. A render is not the delivery. A password that arrives after the theme is already everywhere is not early.

If the offer is commercial, the license should be the same kind of document you can read on a normal Tuesday: physical sales only, no sharing the mesh, rights tied to an active license if that is the model.

What early access is not

It is not a promise that the file will print on the first try on every machine. It is not permission to post the STL in a group so other people can “help test.” Testing means you print it. It does not mean you redistribute it.

It is also not a fake countdown. If a designer cannot say what you get and when, wait.

For collectors

Print one. Check the face, the bill, and the small costume parts. If you collect a series, check that the size matches the ducks already on the shelf. Themes explains why a shared size matters.

Keep the file for yourself. Personal use is the default until a commercial license says otherwise.

For sellers

Early access is a head start on photos and packing, not a head start on breaking the file rules. Print, photograph the real object, write the size from a caliper or a ruler, and list only if the license allows sales. Stock you print while the license is active can use the sell-through window later. Stock you never had a right to sell does not become legal because you were early.

Read the first print for what to look at before you trust a new theme.
